Top 10 Ways to Help This Holiday Season
at the Union Gospel Mission in Fort Worth
Thursday, November 1, 2012 by Malorie Schein
As we enter into the holiday season for 2012, Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County continues to counts its blessings. We are so grateful for the community support that we receive throughout the year and simply couldn’t do it with YOUR help! UGM-TC really tries to make this time of year special for our residents and guests. It can a sad time for many of them, so it is important to be able to provide them an inviting, safe place to come. This Thanksgiving and Christmas, we ask for your continued support and prayers. Here are some ways to get involved this season:
1. Host a donation drive for Thanksgiving meal items
We do two days worth of Thanksgiving meals at the Mission and invite former residents to come back and visit at a luncheon we throw, where we distribute meal packages so they may have a nice Thanksgiving for their family. Items can include: canned green beans, yams, cranberry sauce and corn as well as stuffing and instant mashed potatoes.
2. Help decorate the Mission
We like to make sure that the common areas (i.e. lobby, dining hall, learning center etc.) have been fully dressed for the holidays. It helps make the whole place feel warm and inviting.
3. Help pass out Christmas gifts to residents and homeless guests
Each adult resident and homeless guest that comes through the Mission on Christmas receives a care package. We’d love your help in passing the gifts out!
4. Host a donation drive for Christmas Care Packages
Every adult resident and homeless guest we serve gets a Christmas care package. We need the support of the community to help provide the items that make up the packages.
5. Donate Thanksgiving or Christmas decorations
Many of our current decorations have gone through a lot of wear and tear over the years, so we’d appreciate any items that are still in good shape to help make for a festive and beautiful place during the holidays.
6. Make Thanksgiving or Christmas placemats for the dining hall
For the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, we dress the dining hall tables with individual placemats that residents and guests can take with them afterwards for a keepsake. It’s especially nice when the placemats have a personal message or bible verse on them!
7. Host a toy drive
Based on the toy donations we receive from the community, we are able to set-up a make shift “toy store” at the Mission, where mothers and fathers get to shop for their children and wrap the gifts themselves. It’s a gift in and of itself for the parents to be able to provide their children with a nice Christmas.
8. Serve a meal
We are always happy to have volunteers with smiling faces greeting and serving those in need on Christmas. Please note we have limited availability. Important Annoucement: We are full to serve on Thanksgiving. We recommend you contact the Volunteer Center of North Texas at 817-927-7172 to see what other organizations are in need.
9. Host a holiday-themed event
We are glad when volunteers come in and host special event for the residents. It’s a great way to make our residents feel loved!
10. Prayers
Since the holidays can be difficult for many of those we serve, prayers of peace hope and love for this time of year would be much appreciated.
For questions or to coordinate any of these ways to help, please contact the Volunteer Office at 817-332-2922 or mschein@ugm-tc.org.

Who are the Zetas and what
in the hell are they talking about...

[PER WEBSITE] ZetaTalk leads you through the vast amount of information being relayed by the Zetas in answer to questions posed to their emissary, Nancy. The ZetaTalk answers cover such subjects as portents of a Pole Shift and how this relates to the Transformation in process; how life in the Aftertime following this shift will be different from today; the self-centered or service-minded spiritual Orientation of humans as well as aliens from other worlds and how inadvertently giving the Call to aliens can put you in touch with one group or the other; how Visitations can be more easily interpreted when spiritual orientation is understood; how visitors from other Worlds are watched by the Council of Worlds, which has set Rules regulating their behavior; why we are only gradually getting acquainted with our visitors from other worlds, and what will allow the Awakening to occur faster; to what extent the Government is aware of and interacting with the alien presence; the true nature and reason for the Hybrids being developed by the Zetas to merge the best from both Zetans and Humans; why aliens can disappear and move through walls, and what both physical and spiritual Density changes will be like in the future; what the Zetas have to say about our Science theories; what the Zetas as students of human nature have concluded on what Being Human means; and straight ZetaTalk about our Myths.

On the bright side...

A smooth sea never made a skilled mariner.
English proverb

Quote of the day…

You guys have a severely distorted mental picture of my state of mind. Last night the Democrat party won an election. It wasn't the triumph of better ideas, superior policies or more enlightened voters.
Democrats managed to get more votes, and that's all last night says. Of course I'm disappointed and discouraged. I believe 59 million Americans made a mistake, and that either intentionally or out of sheer incompetence Obama will make America a worse place to live for years to come.
I hope I'm wrong and everything turns out peachy. But if I'm right, 59 million apologies will be worthless.

Survival of Bridgeport Hospital?

It looks as if my previous post asking if Bridgeport Hospital will close, may have been answered, in part, by the news in today’s Wise County Messenger's Update. From what I read, it looks like the deal is structured more like a bailout than a takeover.
I find myself struggling with the fact that WRHS can come up with $20 million to purchase an operation that loses money but am thankful that the Bridgeport hospital will more than likely continue operations.
Although probably a moot point, if a bidding war arises, and a profit from the sale is made, who will claim the profit (amount exceeding debt) that this non-profit organization might produce? Current management, stockholders, ect?…

If you're worried about election results, this is for you...

See how long you can
keep from laughing...

N.C. Democrat Admits
He’s Voted 4 Times

It’s amazing what people will say online. A North Carolina Democrat named Jim Turner posted on his Facebook page that he has voted FOUR times already and will vote again on election day. Once he did that it was picked up by @BradMarston on twitter and has traveled like a bullet around the blogosphere:

With parents proudly exemplifying acts of lying and cheating, is it any wonder why the children are cursed?  Yes, cursed...look it up.

Dishonorable Disclosures
Formerly referred to as treason...

Intelligence and Special Operations forces are furious and frustrated at how President Obama and those in positions of authority have exploited their service for political advantage. Countless leaks, interviews and decisions by the Obama Administration and other government officials have undermined the success of our Intelligence and Special Operations forces and put future missions and personnel at risk.

The unwarranted and dangerous public disclosure of Special Forces Operations is so serious -- that for the first time ever -- former operators have agreed to risk their reputations and go 'on the record' in a special documentary titled "Dishonorable Disclosures." Its goal is to educate America about serious breaches of security and prevent them from ever happening again.
