Quote of the week!

"It's a little late in the game to worry about anticorruption measures because what in the world is the alternative going to be? If you find people who aren't corrupt it is largely because they haven't had the opportunity."

ANTHONY H. CORDESMAN, a defense expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, on the corruption that pervades Afghanistan's business and political elite. ~ NY Times

~~~
America has always depended on corruption and graft in the Middle East as just part of their everyday business practices. It makes people (and governments) predictable, controllable and somewhat reliable.
Unfortunately, this quote now hits close to home because it seems to describe American business as usual in today's environment, especially with politicians. I don't know which is worse, their corruption or us putting up with it...
How very, very sad...
Today's Most Appalling News
by Denney Crane
President Obama is putting on a show for Europe and the Middle East as he publicly persuades Israel to delay bombing Iran to stop its nuclear proliferation.
What I find most humorous though, is the President's statement that the U.S. "will always have Israel’s back". Let me assure you, the President has his knife sharpened and ready for the day Israel needs us to
watch their back!
I am also relatively certain that the President has already commissioned an apology speech to Iran when Israel attacks. Notice I said 'when', not 'if'.
On the bright side, our defense contractors should stay busy this decade selling them all weapons. Probably made in China though...
Goodbye Angry Squaw
I hate to see the Angry Squaw remove her blog. I enjoyed reading her. She had many sad things happen, but she took them in stride, vented a lot and began to heal. That was the best part...the healing.
This post's for you Angry Squaw. Maybe you'll come back some day...hopefully as a Happy Housewife. I hope you make it... one day at a time...
