The Hokey Pelosi

Polijam: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich goes on a blistering attack of current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her handling of oversight on ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’ in an interview with ABC News Radio’s Marcus Wilson.

“I think this is the most despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort I’ve seen in my lifetime.”

“She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowist of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior.”

“Speaker Pelosi’s the big loser, because she either comes across as incompetent, or dishonest. Those are the only two defenses she’s got.”

“The fact is she either didn’t do her job, or she did do her job and she’s now afraid to tell the truth.”

“She can’t win either way. She’s either got to say to you: ‘Ya know, I didn’t understand.’ In which case she thinks she’s stupid. Or, in fact, she didn’t want to understand; in which case she’s frankly, pretty dishonest. Now I think that’s a pretty weak background for a Speaker to say: ‘Should I take the stupid defense or the dishonest defense?’ Which one do you think works better?

Email of the day...from Barack Obama

Good afternoon,

You are receiving this email because you signed up at WhiteHouse.gov. My staff and I plan to use these messages as a way to directly communicate about important issues and opportunities, and today I have some encouraging updates about health care reform.

The Vice President and I just met with leaders from the House of Representatives and received their commitment to pass a comprehensive health care reform bill by July 31.

We also have an unprecedented commitment from health care industry leaders, many of whom opposed health reform in the past. Monday, I met with some of these health care stakeholders, and they pledged to do their part to reduce the health care spending growth rate, saving more than two trillion dollars over the next ten years -- around $2,500 for each American family. Then on Tuesday, leaders from some of America's top companies came to the White House to showcase innovative ways to reduce health care costs by improving the health of their workers.

Now the House and Senate are beginning a critical debate that will determine the health of our nation's economy and its families. This process should be transparent and inclusive and its product must drive down costs, assure quality and affordable health care for everyone, and guarantee all of us a choice of doctors and plans.

Reforming health care should also involve you. Think of other people who may want to stay up to date on health care reform and other national issues and tell them to join us here:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/EmailUpdates

Health care reform can't come soon enough. We spend more on health care than any country, but families continue to struggle with skyrocketing premiums and nearly 46 million are without insurance entirely. It is a priority for the American people and a pillar of the new foundation we are seeking to build for our economy.

We'll continue to keep you posted about this and other important issues.

Thank you,
Barack Obama

P.S. If you'd like to get more in-depth information about health reform and how you can participate, be sure to visit http://www.HealthReform.gov.

It says I received this email because I signed up at whitehouse.gov. Let me assure you, I never signed up, but I'm going to! I don't want to miss another message from our President.

Email of the day

I don't know if this is true,
I do know it is not new, but
I feel it worthy to peruse...

One day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name.

Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down.

It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the papers.

That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said about that individual.

On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class was smiling.

"Really?" she heard whispered. "I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!" and, "I didn't know others liked me so much," were most of the comments.

No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She never knew if they discussed them after class or with their parents, but it didn't matter. The exercise had accomplished its purpose. The students were happy with themselves and one another. That group of students moved on.

Several years later, one of the students was killed in VietNam and his teacher attended the funeral of that special student. She had never seen a serviceman in a military coffin before. He looked so handsome, so mature.

The church was packed with his friends. One by one those who loved him took a last walk by the coffin. The teacher was the last one to bless the coffin.

As she stood there, one of the soldiers who acted as pallbearer came up to her. "Were you Mark's math teacher?" he asked.

She nodded: "yes."

Then he said: "Mark talked about you a lot."

After the funeral, most of Mark's former classmates went together to a luncheon. Mark's mother and father were there, obviously waiting to speak with his teacher.

"We want to show you something," his father said, taking a wallet out of his pocket "They found this on Mark when he was killed. We thought you might recognize it."

Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded many times. The teacher knew without looking that the papers were the ones on which she had listed all the good things each of Mark's classmates had said about him.

"Thank you so much for doing that," Mark's mother said. "As you can see, Mark treasured it."

All of Mark's former classmates started to gather around. Charlie smiled rather sheepishly and said, "I still have my list. It's in the top drawer of my desk at home."

Chuck's wife said, "Chuck asked me to put his in our wedding album."

"I have mine too," Marilyn said. "It's in my diary"

Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her pocketbook, took out her wallet and showed her worn and frazzled list to the group. "I carry this with me at all times,"

Vicki said and without batting an eyelash, she continued: "I think we all saved our lists"

That's when the teacher finally sat down and cried. She cried for Mark and for all his friends who would never see him again.

The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that life will end one day. And we don't know when that one day will be.

So please, tell the people you love and care for, that they are special and important. Tell them, before it is too late.

Remember, we reap what we sow. What we put into the lives of others comes back into your own lives.

Thanks AJ!

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, 'How was the trip?'

'It was great, Dad.'

'Did you see how poor people live?' the father asked.

'Oh yeah,' said the son.

'So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?' asked the father.

The son answered:

'I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon..

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.'

The boy's father! was speechless.

Then his son added, 'Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are..'

Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.
Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!

Crazy women...

Thank you Vice President Dick Cheney

I want to personally thank you Mr. Vice President for not staying silent as our President makes America and Americans less safe. You have risked your reputation and popularity by speaking out against the policies of the current administration. By voicing your convictions and your willingness to prove them, you have taken a severe tongue lashing from the mainstream media and the current political majority in Washington. I consider your actions pure patriotism.

I believe you and your interviews are the primary reason President Obama has reversed the decision to allow more photos of the Abu Ghraib dishonor. I believe your discourse will even cause a serious setback in the movement of prisoners from Guantanamo Bay. I credit you sir, for saving American lives…and the current administration won’t release the proof.

Unfortunately, our President seems to be gaining experience from his failures. His numerous proponents believe his ideological doctrine is flawless; yet some Americans believe he is more interested in the treatment of criminals, terrorists and communist countries than the American people.

Thank you, Mr. Vice President for helping keep America safe. Your critics say you are just defending yourself and your actions, but there are millions of us who consider you an American patriot for your continued commitment to our nation. Also know, whoever bird hunts with you should feel honored…and safer. I know I would.

God bless you and everything you do…

This shop in Mexico was tired of thugs breaking into his shop so he came up with this idea.

President Obama, the truth may hurt.

For over a year, President Obama & company, as well as the mainstream media have relentlessly condemned President Bush and his administration for every problem facing the world. Now, the MSM wants Dick Cheney to back off criticizing the One about jeopardizing America’s safety.

In this video, MSNBC brings in a former CIA special agent to call Dick Cheney “hypocritical” for not releasing the interrogation memos himself! I find it hypocritical that the current administration hasn’t released the memos since they already let the cat out of the bag.

Our President opened Pandora’s box and let the world know America allowed torture. Not only did he stain the reputation of our country, he dishonored our former President and Vice President. The memos would prove the methods were effective, which would make the former administration heroes, not criminals.

Now that the CIA leaked information that Democratic leaders were in the loop on waterboarding, the powers that be want this issue to disappear. Nancy Pelosi does not want to be prosecuted for perjury and torturing. Neither do other top congressional leaders who were briefed.

Alas, people of character don’t appreciate being disgraced, especially when their actions save thousands of American lives! People of character have very little to hide; their story doesn’t keep changing. They should have never picked a fight with Dick Cheney. They should have never threatened the CIA. As I said in a previous post, “If I were a politician, the last group in the world I would try to intimidate is the CIA”.

It’s time the world hear the rest of the story. It’s time to show the world that the former administration acted forcefully to save American lives; which is no disgrace. It’s time to stop blaming the former administration for our current problems, particularly when Democratic leadership is responsible for many of them.

Bush & company made many major mistakes, but keeping America safe is not one of them. They were also much more transparent than what I’ve seen from the current administration. If President Obama wants to pick a fight against someone, he should make damn sure he can win it! The world is not very forgiving, neither is history.

but I could be wrong,

Denney Crane

.

Stinking Thinking...

I have been assessing the claims that waterboarding is torture. After much consideration , I painfully agree with left-wingers and conclude that waterboarding is a form of torture. However, I have no problem with using torture on proven enemies if Americans are in eminent danger; but only with Presidential approval.

My opinion may be considered callous and cold-blooded, but I value innocent human life much more than the well being of a terrorist. Of course, this is in complete contradiction of my Christian beliefs which says we should love our enemy. I am far from perfect and not the best example of a Christian.

Mass murderers should be treated differently than other criminals, especially if they still pose a threat to innocent people. If they aren’t American citizens, I don’t think they should be allowed our same civil rights. I don’t think torture is a respectable procedure. I am not proud that America has used torture in the past. I do believe, in this case, the end justifies the means.

but I could be wrong,

Denney Crane

Fun & Games with ACORN

Republican Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann (MN-CD6) in the following featured video courtesy of the Washington News Observer two days ago attempted to warn the American people about another grant of taxpayer money to the group, ACORN, under the “Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act,” if her amendment prohibiting organizations under investigation for voter registration fraud from receiving funding under the act did not pass. Unfortunately, the House by a 245-176 margin voted to allow ACORN to get the funding. Canadian Sentinel

Question of the day...

What happens when a democratic country loses its “free press” and the government provides its funding?

It seems that preparations are being made for several American mainstream media companies to become government entities.

‘Obama told the crowd “Your ultimate success is essential to success of our democracy” before shortly saying “Government without a tough and vibrant media is not an option for the United States of America.”

He concludes with the line that the problems in the media industry are “problems worth solving,” which sounds an awful lot like the final word that there’s going to be a newspaper bailout.’ Free Republic

BISD & property taxes...

709 people vote on a $36 million bond for BISD… $36,000,000.00! What’s wrong with this picture?

BISD is not a business. Asserting "only pennies on the dollar" is no longer valid since our property taxes have become quite a burden. Land & property are being auctioned off on the court house steps in Decatur because people aren't able to pay their mortgage, much less their property taxes!

Asserting the "projected growth" is no longer valid as well. The economy has dealt a serious blow to thousands of lives in Wise County. People are leaving to look for employment. Increasing property taxes make home ownership less affordable. Cost of living increases since business will pass the tax increase along to the consumer.

Why can't the affluent board members of BISD curb spending and focus on using current tax revenue? It seems obvious they have no idea what the average, hard-working taxpayer is going through to pay their property taxes. If they, themselves had trouble paying their own property taxes, I believe spending and oversight would be different. Message to all taxing entities, please stop over-taxing Wise County property owners.

I understand that the BISD board wants to improve the district; but having the best of everything does not make a better school, hiring better teachers will. Some of our best teachers have already been run off to other districts.

God Bless America, God Bless you and God Bless our children, but stop hurting the ones who are paying to educate our children.

Third Base Politics

Would you still smoke if...

Email of the day

And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land called America, having lost their morals, their work initiative, and their will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that person known as "The One".

He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He hypnotized the people telling them, "I am sent to save you. My lack of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous ego, and my association with evil doers are of no consequence. For I shall save you with Hope and Change. Go, therefore, and proclaim throughout the land that he who preceded me is evil, that he has defiled the nation, and that all he has built must be destroyed."

And the people rejoiced, for even though they knew not what "The One" would do, he had promised that he would bring change, and they proclaimed "Yes We Can".

And then He said, "Redistribution of wealth is good for everybody" And the people said, "Show us the money!"

And Joe the plumber asked, "Are you kidding me? You're going to steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??"

And "The One" ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personal records were hacked, publicized, and ridiculed; though no crime could be found.

One lone reporter asked, "That shouldn't be, isn't that Marxist policy?" And she was banished from the kingdom!

Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations experience and having zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with radical terrorists?"

And "The One" said, "Simple. I shall sit with them and talk kindly to them and show them how nice we really are; and they will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!"

And the people said, "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we can beat our weapons into free cars for the people!"

Then "The One" said, "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes."
And one, lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes." So "The One" said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!" And the people said, "Hallelujah!! Show us the money!"

Then "The One" said, "I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell your homes!" And the people yawned and the already slumping housing market fully collapsed.

And He said, "I shall mandate employer-funded health care for EVERY worker and raise the minimum wage, and lower the white collar wage. And I shall also give every person unlimited healthcare and medicine and even transportation to the free clinics."

And the people said, "Give me some of that!"

Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas."

And the people said, "Where's my rebate check?"

Then "The One" said, "I shall bankrupt the coal industry, and perhaps even the oil industry (Cap & Trade/Carbon Tax) and though electricity rates will skyrocket, we shall soon build wind farms and solar power stations and drive green cars that I shall mandate in Detroit!"

And the people said, "Coal is dirty, coal is evil, no more coal! But we don't care for that part about higher electric rates."

So "The One" said, "Not to worry. If your rebate ($10/week) isn't enough to cover your extra expenses ($3,000/year), we shall bail you out. Just sign up with ACORN and your troubles are over! Only the fat cats will have to pay."

Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches, free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..."

And the people said, "Hallelujah!!" And they made him King!

And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers; though they sold much less of their products.

Others simply gave up and went out of business, and the economy sank like unto a rock dropped from a cliff. The
banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support.

So "The One" again blamed the prior administration, extended unemployment benefits to a year, bailed out his favorite banks, and then took over the banks and auto industries.

"The One" said, "I am the "The One" - The Messiah - and I'm here to save you! We shall just print more money so the
government will have enough! Surely one trillion dollars will make everyone happy." And immediately the Fed complied and the money presses roared.

And China reconsidered their one trillion dollars of loans to the US, and threatened to call in their debts.

Other foreign trading partners said unto "The One", "Wait a minute... Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay more… for everything… as your dollar
becomes worth less."

And the people said, "Wait a minute… That is unfair!!"

And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. What factories are not owned by your government are owned by us. Now you shall play by our rules!"

And "The One" said "Americans are arrogant, divisive, and derisive! We will listen."

And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?"

But yea verily, it was too late. The people eventually set upon "The One" and spat upon him and stoned him, and his name was dung. But the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter or hope.

And the Change that "The One" had given them was as like unto a poison that had destroyed them from within, and
like a whirlwind that consumed all that they had built.

And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish, "Give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!"

But it was too late, and the once-glorious "Home of the Brave and Land of the Free" was no more.
