Bud Kennedy, Star Telegram Jackass

Unfortunately, every so often I stumble onto an article written by Star Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy that makes me angry. It seems that if he can't urinate on a subject, it's not newsworthy. This one upset me enough to subscribe online, just so I could leave a comment. This is probably counter productive, but I'm sick of liberal media.

I have always enjoyed reading the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Very seldom have I appreciated anything Mr. Kennedy has written. He is good at creating controversy and ire; which is his job. He is my second most disliked Texan, just behind Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Of course, it's much easier to criticize than to cure.

My comment started out ugly, but I was limited to 1000 characters, so I cut the ugly so as to make my point. The evil Denney liked the ugly, a lot.

I find it ridiculus that this form of protest is not considered radical or extremist. As a matter of fact, after watching this and several other videos that show the adults in the room applauding the student protestors, this type of behavior is encouraged...

Zo is on a roll!

Funny and authentic

One of AlfonZO's finest!

Pure Gold

Killer video

My mad cow is flaring...

I'm thankful I don't live in a big city. My reasons are somewhat changing as the days go by. Today, it's because I have this paranoid dillusion that we may experience another terrorist enemy combatant attack in the not so distant future. Normally, targets are highly populated areas which I visit infrequently.

I don't feel safer under the protection of the current administration. I think President Bush made several disasterous mistakes during his term as POTUS, but keeping America safe from terrorist attacks was not one of them. The Arab world respects strength and despise weakness. I don't believe President Obama commands the same respect as did Bush; and to me, that is an invitation for disaster.

Our President is changing policy regarding Homeland Security, shutting down Gitmo and apologizing to the world for American's arrogance and reaction to the 9/11 attack; as well as showing submission and bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia. This does not demonstrate a strong, confident leader of a great nation. A street corner beggar has more confidence, dignity and pride!

Even the President of wishy-washy France commented on President Obama’s weakness, “…he was elected two months ago and had never run a ministry. There are a certain number of things on which he has no position. And he is not always up to standard on decision-making and efficiency.”

When asked how he would react to another terrorist attack on the US, President Obama's first concern was making sure he didn't alienate other countries. That's a "Why Can't We Be Friends" response. I don't think the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, Hamas or even Somali pirates are worried about how the US will respond under his leadership.

In an ABC interview, Obama said the government can crack down on terrorists “within the constraints of the Constitution.” The President has picked one helluva subject to be concerned about the parameters of the US Constitution.

Yesterday, President Obama allowed CIA interrogation techniques be made public; endangering our country. "Publicizing the techniques does grave damage to our national security by ensuring they can never be used again — even in a ticking-time- bomb scenario where thousands or even millions of American lives are at stake." Politico

It must be the mad cow that provokes this lunacy. The horror of martial law after a terrorist attack(s) and the President establishing "control over all US citizens, businesses, and churches in time of "emergency" (Executive Order 11490) is not a pleasant thought.

I don't stay awake nights worrying about another terrorist attack. I don't live in fear of death. I want America to succeed and prosper, but I'm concerned for our safety. Our military sacrifice their lives on a daily basis to preserve that safety, for which I'm eternally grateful. We don't have to be victimized, it's the choice of our leaders; which I pray for daily.

Does this make me a radical, right-wing extremist?

My 2 Cents Worth

Am I alone in having a problem with this politician? Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, D-IL, called the Tea Parties despicable and shameful. Talk about nerve! This is the same Congresswoman who was the featured speaker for the Chicago Democratic Socialists of America 46th Annual Debs-Thomas-Harrington dinner.

On their website the DSA makes this remarkable statement, "Democracy is not simply one of our political values but our means of restructuring society." This is socialism disguised as democracy. We already have a democratic society, they want socialistic restructuring; to hell with freedom and the US Constitution!

It terrifies me that the American people, who live better than 90% of the rest of the world, would want to change the very principles which the country was founded. There has been an immeasurable amount of American blood spilled for the sake of our freedoms. If socialism is so good, why are so many legal American citizens leaving states like New York and California where social programs are abundant?

STATEMENTS OF INTEREST

'"Republicans have become embarrassing to watch. And it doesn't feel right to make fun of crazy people." --New York Times columnist Paul Krugman' Sharky

“It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt.” Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL .House of Reps website

“This initiative is funded by the high end; we call it AstroTurf, it's not really a grass-roots movement. It's AstroTurf by some of the wealthiest people in America to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle class,” Nancy Pelosi, D-CA. Gateway Pundit

I find it hypocritical how liberal media, politicians and bloggers are spinning the Tea Parties. This is sooooo like the pot calling the kettle black. (Is that racist?) Liberals can call President Bush, "Hitler"; but never, ever call President Obama a fascist or you're a crazy radical extremist!

According to them, it was: a failure, a partisan protest, a shameful political stunt, a vast right-wing conspiracy, an anti-CNN protest, an anti-Obama protest, an anti-goverment protest, promoted by corporate interests, organized by Fox News, organized by Republicans, promoted by Republican lobbyists and politicians, attended by white people only, attended by Republicans only, funded by high end (wealthiest) people in America, was not a grassroots movement but "astroturf".

It's objective was to mislead the public.

Come on, who's really misleading the public?

Unnecessary humor

A married couple was in a terrible accident where the woman's face was severely burned. The doctor told the husband that they couldn't graft any skin from her body because she was too skinny. So the husband offered to donate some of his own skin.

However, the only skin on his body that the doctor felt was suitable would have to come from his buttocks. The husband and wife agreed that they would tell no one about where the skin came from, and requested that the doctor also honor their secret. After all, this was a very delicate matter.

After the surgery was completed, everyone was astounded at the woman's new beauty. She looked more beautiful than she ever had before! All her friends and relatives just went on and on about her youthful beauty. One day, she was alone with her husband, and she was overcome with emotion at his sacrifice. She said: "Dear, I just want to thank you for everything you did for me. There is no way I could ever repay you."

"My darling," he replied, "think nothing of it. I get all the thanks I need every time I see your mother kiss you on the cheek."

Bud and Jim were a couple of drinking buddies who worked as aircraft mechanics in Pittsburgh. One day the airport was fogged in and they were stuck in the hangar with nothing to do.

Bud said, "Man, I wish we had something to drink!"

Jim says, "Me too. I know, I've heard you can drink jet fuel and get a buzz. You wanna try it?"

So they pour themselves a couple of glasses of high octane hootch and got completely smashed.

The next morning Bud wakes up and is surprised at how good he feels. In fact he
feels GREAT! NO hangover! NO bad side effects. Nothing!

Then the phone rings. It's Jim.

Jim says, "Hey, how do you feel this morning?"

Bud says, "I feel great. How about you?"

Jim says, "I feel great, too. You don't have a hangover?"

Bud says, "No that jet fuel is great stuff -- no hangover, nothing. We ought to do this more often."

"Yeah, well there's just one thing."

"What's that?"

"Have you farted yet?"

"No "

"Well, DON'T, 'cause I'm in Denver"

The Blind Bunny

One morning a blind bunny was hopping down the bunny trail and tripped over a large snake and fell, kerplop right on his twitchy little nose.

'Oh please excuse me,' said the bunny. 'I didn't mean to trip over you, but I'm blind and can't see.'

'That's perfectly all right,' replied the snake. 'To be sure, it was my fault. I didn't mean to trip you, but I'm blind too, and I didn't see you coming. By the way, what kind of animal are you?'

'Well, I really don't know,' said the bunny. 'I'm blind, and I've never seen myself. Maybe you could examine me and find out.'

So the snake felt the bunny all over, and he said, 'Well, you're soft, and cuddly, and you have long silky ears, and a little fluffy tail and a dear twitchy little nose. You must be a bunny rabbit!'

The bunny said, 'I can't thank you enough. But by the way, what kind of animal are you?'

The snake replied that he didn't know either, and the bunny agreed to examine him, and when the bunny was finished, the snake asked, 'Well, what kind of an animal am I?'

The bunny had felt the snake all over, and he replied, 'You're cold, you're slippery, and you haven't got any balls...You must be a POLITICIAN'

Look for any opening in breaker boxes as they are likely to house something we do not want to come in contact with. The pictures show what one of our lineman came across the other day while checking a meter. The critter had climbed up through the knockout hole and was after a mouse. Needless to say, neither he or the mouse made it. That's a mouse in his mouth in the last photo. This snake forever to be known as "Ol' Sparky".

By the way, this is a rat snake, not a rattlesnake. Rattlesnakes on rare occasions climb trees (or telephone poles) but they can climb especially in rocky areas. Next time you check to see why a circuit breaker has tripped, think of these pictures.

If Christians Get On The Same Page

April 12, 2009 - by Elizabeth Scalia on Pajamas Media

Original title: “See How These Christians Shove One Another”

‘Every year, Christians see an increase in stories meant to cast doubt upon the first and greatest story of “hope and change.” In media, spring is for bringing Christ out of Christianity, for pessimistic polling, and — this year — for both the president and the press to declare Christianity’s influence on American and world culture as vastly diminished.

The state of Christianity, every Easter, is media-examined and found wanting. Christians are increasingly seen as mere political operatives and impediments to both “peace” and “progress.”

That Christians are seen as such is partly our own fault. Christianity is a counter-cultural belief system, not meant to operate in the same way as “the world,” but in recent decades Christians have waded deeply into the political process and embraced activist tactics — to our detriment. Christians are supposed to be “in the world but not of the world.” By embracing the political methods of “the world,” we set ourselves up for defeat, for scripture tells us it is Satan who offers “all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence” (Matthew 4:8).

Adopting the noisome, perpetually insulted rage of worldly activism interferes with the Christian’s ability to hear or depend wholly and supernaturally upon God. We know that God’s ways are not our ways, and yet we very frequently get hung up on our ideas of how a given situation must play out. We do not stop to think that our well-intentioned methods may actually be getting in the way of the Holy Spirit’s work.

No Christian, if given the choice between saving Christ from the cross or allowing his Passion to go forth, would choose the former. Gifted with hindsight, we say, “Without the crucifixion, there would have been no resurrection.”

This is often the way: that a negative, even terrible event must be allowed to happen, that the Holy Spirit may work within it something positive and salvific for mankind.

Sometimes, in fighting so ardently against what we know to be a wrong, we forget that — as Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection showed — the Holy Spirit must be allowed a little room to work, in order to effect confounding change.

The third person of the Triune God needs room to work, and also our trust, which we Christians are frequently slow to give. When Nancy Pelosi announced a visit with Pope Benedict XVI, many Christians assumed she would score a good-PR bonanza, but the Holy Spirit had other ideas. Currently, convinced that President Obama’s speech to Notre Dame University will provide him with cover to enact his wayward Freedom of Choice Act, Christians are once again forgetting the Easter lesson: that sometimes some things must be permitted, in order for other things to happen.

A thoughtful Newt Gingrich, in suggesting that prayer groups and nationwide pro-life meetings be scheduled for the hour of Obama’s speech, recently exhibited the mind of Christian exile to which we are called, and the sort of sharp-edged faith and trust that our political engagements with the world have dulled:

It may well be that President Obama may accidentally trigger the spark that creates a nationwide awareness on that day in a way he and his schedulers could never have imagined. … Maybe this day will turn out in a way to be a blessing by God, and maybe it’ll turn out in a providential way to be exactly the right conversation to have at Notre Dame and across America.

This is a more constructive response than petitions and rants; it is a response that brings Christians together before God, in a positive and co-creative way, in keeping with our calling.

Earlier, I suggested in this space that Christians not waste this issue with the predictable cries of outrage that have proved ineffective in changing hearts and minds about abortion. For that, I was accused of being “a tool” of both Obama and of Satan, one who did not sufficiently love Jesus or babies.

Those accusations made me wince for the sake of Christianity. In the first century, Tertullian wrote, “See how these Christians love one another.” Would a historian observing us lately be tempted either to those sentiments or to explore a life of faith?

At Easter we reacquaint ourselves with wonder, humility, and supernaturalism; perhaps some political introspection would serve us well, too. Have we Christians, meaning well, made idols of our ideologies and put our heads above God’s? Are we so engaged in “process” that — by our manner and actions — we repel rather than attract those who, but for us, might be Christ’s?

Christians have a duty to prayerfully assess the state of our own souls and consider that we are meant, first and foremost, to be reflections of the love of Christ, that his peace may reign. This is a good time to ask: how are we doing with that?’

I have a better question: If we render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, can we render what is American's from the politicians?
